INTRODUCTION
by Tim Hartridge

There are times in our lives when all external wisdom fails and the only way forward is to discover a new path and new strengths within the Self. This is when we know we are ready for change and we can confidently undertake the journey of Initiation. The NOX ritual is a reconnecting bridge across the desert of No-knowledge, it is a passport to the retrieval of Soul-knowledge. It can provide us with the tools that will enable us to undertake this crossing as a necessary step toward Self-Initiation.

In indigenous cultures it is usually the Shaman who undertakes Initiation through vision quests and spirit journeys, undergoing the necessary ordeals before they can serve their cultures in the role of spiritual leader. In the old European culture this function was fulfilled through the eyes of the Witch, Wizard and Warlock, seers in the dark who used magick to shape their psychic reality. Operating primarily as healers it is via this role that the Shaman or Witch dies metaphorically at the right (rite) time and is able to resurrect their soul renewed with a vision.

The NOX ritual is our personal vehicle in reconnecting us with Soul. Through it we may experience initiation, reclaim our personal power, or undergo changes in discovery and renewal of the powers of Self. It may challenge us to be open and to embrace all that Self transformation may entail.

OUTLINE
The NOX ritual is a visionary and trance-dance ritual used for the purpose of personal initiation. It blends meditation and the creation of sacred place with an energetic form of Ritual Magick, Sufi-style dance and Zaar trance rhythms.

The objective of this ritual practice is to assist participants to enter an inner, nocturnal world by combining the practices of meditation, mantra, ritual, dance and trance for the purpose of self exploration and reconnection to the forgotten powers.

The specific details and processes are found under the headings of 'Background & Objective' and 'Ritual Procedures'.

SYDNEY
Workshops in the NOX ritual are run occasionally as part of our regular coven work. I invite you to join in the workshop if you are local to Sydney. The workshop fee varies depending if it is a just an evening event or a full workshop. Generally the main workshop covers an introductory afternoon session followed by an evening ritual.
