casting the circle workshop:
what to expect

The workshops focus on how to get started in Wiccan and Magickal practices and will conduct you through the essential elements of contemporary witchcraft ritual. Each workshop session is usually structured into two parts. The first part is the 'in theory' session, in which a good understanding of the principles and background are explored. The second part to each workshop is the essential 'in practice' session, in which participants practice and take part in the Circle ritual.

Generally, the workshop classes are small so that a good level of participation is engaged in by all. One of the special features of the workshops is exploring ritual techniques to engage psychic experiences. In this way we begin to integrate our personal experiences as 'sacred' and significant.

NOX ritual workshop:
the journey within

The NOX ritual is a visionary and trance-dance ritual used for the purpose of personal initiation. It blends meditation and the creation of sacred place with energetic ritual magick, Sufi-style dance and Zaar trance rhythms.

Hear what those who attended the 'Euphoria' festival had to say about the high energy experience of the NOX ritual and celebration - see 'Diary of a Witch'.

For an in-depth coverage of workshop information see the NOX ritual.

reading material
subject primers

There are several books which I recommend as subject primers for the basis for beginning to study contemporary Witchcraft. These are: "Practising the Witch's Craft" edited by Douglas Ezzy and to which Tim Hartridge, our workshop leader has contributed a significant chapter. Other useful books include "What Witches Do" by Stewart Farrar and "Wicca, the old religion in the New Age" by Vivien Crowley are two texts on the study of contemporary witchcraft. Another excellent book is "Witchcrafting" by Phyllis Curott, or the ever popular "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk.

"Practising the Witch's Craft" is available directly through us with free postage. (Book ordering)

PURPOSE The purpose in doing the reading is to try to guarantee a similar level of comprehension by all participants. In the past, we've found so many different perceptions as to what participants understood by the terms 'Witchcraft' or 'Wicca' that it was impossible to start everyone on an equal playing field. On a practical note, any of these books will continue to be a useful reference for you well after the workshop. All the above books are inexpensive and can usually be readily obtained.
